HELVETICA

a documentary on the history and influence of helvetica on modernism and design. this sans sarif typeface went from being a driving force of swedish typography and the start of modern design to a symbol of conformity and corporate life.

those who liked it embraced its simplicity. those who despised it were moved to create their own typefaces and help change the face of design.

helvetica is overused and is on the face of everything. but, ultimately the film showed that helvetica, when used properly, can still be a beautiful typeface.

i thought this film was going to be more about helvetica vs. arial but i'm glad it wasn't. this is a very good film for anyone interested in typography and fonts.
